Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” to Resound at Funchal Cathedral on 26 June

Funchal Cathedral, will host an instrumental concert dedicated to Antonio Vivaldi’s celebrated The Four Seasons on Friday, 26 June, at 8:00 p.m. The performance will offer a special version of the work arranged for violin and organ, bringing one of the most iconic masterpieces of Baroque music into the historic setting of the Sé Cathedral.

The programme includes Vivaldi’s Le Quattro Stagioni, Op. 8, Nos. 1–4, featuring the four famous concertos — La PrimaveraL’EstateL’Autunno and L’Inverno. In this adaptation, the expressive power of the violin will be placed in dialogue with the rich and solemn sound of the cathedral organ. The concert will be performed by Andrei Vizir on violin and Mikhail Shimorin on organ. The programme will also include a sonata by Giuseppe Tartini and a work for oboe.

With an approximate duration of 60 minutes and no interval, the concert is presented as an elegant and immersive musical experience, shaped by the virtuosity of the violin and the impressive acoustics of Funchal Cathedral.
