The Sacred Art Museum of Funchal will host a concert series promoted by the Conservatory – Madeira School of Arts, Eng. Luiz Peter Clode, as part of the institution’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
Entitled “Concert Series at the Museum”, the programme will take place between May and June and includes three free-admission concerts, bringing together different musical formations and repertoires in a setting closely linked to Madeira’s religious, artistic and cultural heritage.
The first concert is scheduled for May 22, at 5:30 p.m., with a performance by the Early Music Studio. The concert, directed by Giancarlo Mongelli, who will also perform on the harpsichord, will mark the closing of Museum Week.
On June 1, at 6:00 p.m., the museum will host a recital for recorder and harpsichord. The performance will have artistic direction by Carla Abreu, with Giancarlo Mongelli on harpsichord, and forms part of the Museum Day celebrations.
The series will conclude on June 20, at 5:00 p.m., with the ensemble Ninfas do Atlântico, under the artistic direction of Zélia Gomes and with Paulo Silva on piano, presenting the concert “Octovox”.
All concerts are free to attend
